# Your pen settings

> Choose how your Juno Pen records. Juno saves it on the pen for you.

Go to **Settings → Your Pen Settings**. Every choice saves on its own.

Juno writes your settings onto the pen the next time you connect it in Chrome or Edge on a computer. If the pen is plugged in right now, you'll see **Saved to your pen. Unplug it to apply.** See [Connect your pen](/get-started/connect-the-pen).

| Setting | Choices |
| - | - |
| **Clock** | Set automatically when you connect your pen. Nothing to do. |
| **Sound quality** | **High**: best sound, about 610 hours on the pen. **Standard**: more hours, about 920 hours on the pen. |
| **Microphone** | **Soft voices or far away**, **Normal** or **Loud room**. |
| **Voice-activated recording** | When it's on, the pen records only while someone is speaking, and pauses in the silences. A slider sets how easily it starts, from **Only clear voices** to **Even quiet voices**. |
| **Split length** | 60, 120, 180 or 240 minutes. Long meetings are saved in parts, and Juno joins them back into one. |
| **Remove recordings from the pen after they're safely in Juno** | **Ask me**, **Always** or **Never**. |

## The starting microphone choice

Until you change it, the microphone setting follows your profile. For example, students who record lectures start on **Soft voices or far away**, because they sit rows away from the speaker. Everyone else starts on **Normal**.

> Using Safari or a phone? You can still change these settings. They're applied the next time you connect the pen in Chrome or Edge. Or edit the [pen settings file](/get-started/pen-settings-file) by hand.
